Piraeus, Greece, December 15, 2022. The Captain and crew of M/T Aristofanis, managed by Capital Ship Management Corp., were awarded the Search and Rescue Award “recognizing an exceptional humanitarian effort” by the Association for Rescue at Sea (AFRAS) at their annual ceremony on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C.
The Captain and crew of the Marshall Islands-flagged vessel rescued 150 migrants in the Mediterranean Sea from a wooden boat on September 23, 2021.
Captain Nikolaos Lazakis, Naval Attaché of the Greek Embassy in the U.S., accepted the Award on behalf of the Captain and crew of M/T Aristofanis. U.S. Senator Dan Sullivan, of Alaska, hosted the event at the U.S. Capitol Visitors Center, where senior maritime leaders attended, including Commandant of the U.S. Coast Guard Adm. Linda L. Fagan.
